Why well renowned vendors steal?

Everyone knows how Apple "stole" the GUI from Xerox PARC and then Microsoft "stole" it from Apple. Infact there is a long chain of well renowned vendors stealing each others ideas like for instance Samsung Vs Apple on the smartphone case, but the bigger question is why do even Samsung, Apple, Microsoft or any of the big vendors even have to copy/steal ideas from each other or from a new entrepreneur ?

There could be numerous reasons for stealing the ideas but some are discussed following, founder of Apple Inc. Steve Jobs used to believe in Picasso's saying:   'good artists copy, great artists steal’.

Large Companies steals others ideas because sometimes they lack creativity of ideas & lack the aptitude to dream and act on their own dreams. It is much easier to copy an idea and work on it by punching the tagline of their own company. It actually benifits them to create a new product or they can make a fame of themselves by launching that particular product by their very own name.

Why Reputable Vendors became thieves ?

Companies which are stealing some another company ideas because the greed of name and fame ! As Microsoft done with i4i in 1996 ! i4i group had launched an XML technology in which you can use XML in your documents , spreadsheets etc !
When the Microsoft market had decreased rapidly they were finding an alternative solution to capture their lost market ! Somehow , Microsoft get access to i4i's patent and copied all the techniques which i4i group was using ! Now i4i markets had an u turn and they lost their market ! Somehow, when i4i claimed that Microsoft are using our logic for XML based documents , the reputable market response of Microsoft was all melt in the dust ! They loses all their fame and reputation in the International market and bears a heavy fine ! 

This is the reason when big companies become thieves and stole all the logics to improve their markets  !

Just in present we have an case of Iphone and Samsung , where iphone had claimed that Samsung had stolen our design which includes keypad design, round corners and home button ! In general for the layout of the smartphone ! Somehow , Samsung won the case !

The Reason Of Big Companies Stealing Other People Ideas

It’s really frustrating when someone steals your ideas or work because you are the one who is working hard for your work and idea and its really frustrating when someone or some big company steals your work because you are the one who should be rewarded for your work but in this case the people or the company stealing your work is also been rewarded as in they are also taking advantage of your work. Companies who have to steal good ideas don’t typically have the capacity to do anything about them.

One big reason I see that people or companies steal your idea is that they are not comfortable about sharing their own idea or they are confused and scared of sharing their own ideas. Also companies who steal your ideas think that they will earn profits and there are high chances of earning big profits. And sometimes when these types of people steal they are caught in act of stealing your work.

Big Companies Steal New Entrepreneurs’ Ideas

because stealth mode in startup business is positioned as strategies of necessary isolation which are entrepreneurs’ responses to fear. They enter stealth mode because they have an idea or technology that is too young for public exposure. It is a business strategy of secrecy to avoid alerting competitors to pending ideas. They have a fear that their idea is so brilliant that anyone who got to know about their innovations will surely try to run away with them.

“Exposure will not kill an idea. Fear, however, is the little death that shuts down innovation and smothers creativity.”

Many entrepreneurs quell this fear by quietly retreating into their shells. Strategic isolation may work when a startup has all resources it needs to succeed These startups built around a core technology or discovery, which needs to patent and protect their business from idea thefts. But many startups are limiting their growth and ability to succeed because of these idea thefts who would steal their ideas. New entrepreneurs should share least and limited information about their inventions with such people who they fear alot.

The Myth of Big Companies Stealing Others Ideas

“Picasso had a saying 'good artists copy, great artists steal’. 

According to Kirby, “no-one starts out original - we need to copy to build a foundation of knowledge and understanding”.

For example, Hunter S Thompson retyped the whole of The Great Gatsby just to get the feel for writing a great novel.

Big Companies or People steals others ideas because they are uncreative and lack the aptitude to dream and act on their own dreams. It is much easier to copy that to rationally think of something on their own. Also because that there is low chances of loss in investing into others idea and high chances of profit that is why big companies steals others ideas.

When someone re-packages your idea and gets all the glory, it is my experience that they are now out of moves.

But sometimes these companies caught red handed in the act of adopting/stealing others ideas.

Why big companies involved in patent case?

Apple ,Samsung and Microsoft were involved in patent case,In other words we can say that mostly of the big companies were involved.but the question is arrive why these big companies steal others?? It might be possible that the lust of money let them to do this or for the sake of users,but the chances of these thing is very small.When Apple lose a patent war against the VirnetX then a lawyer who represent VirnetX said,                            
"Apple says they don’t infringe. But Apple developers testified that they didn’t pay any attention to anyone’s patents when developing their system."


This is one common mistake which had been done by many other big companies.but a fact is we don't know the intention of any company.consciously  or unconsciously,It is a crime.
